Solid rides for St. John at Cycle-Smart

Derrick St. John of Stevens Racing p/b The Cyclery finished a strong 11th place on both Saturday and Sunday at the Cycle-Smart International cyclo-cross races in Northampton, MA.

St. John finished just 1:12 down Saturday and 1:31 down on Sunday in a strong men’s elite field. The winner both days was Jeremy Powers — fresh off a seventh place at the opening round of the UCI World Cup in Tabor, Czech Republic, on Oct. 21.

The results bode well for St. John’s bid for the national title in Surrey, B.C., on Nov. 17.

Fellow Stevens-sponsored racer Natasha Elliott, riding for The Cyclery, finished ninth on Saturday and seventh on Sunday in the elite women’s category. Elliott is also planning to race the national championships in two weeks.

There’s a great photo of Natasha here.
