Tour of the Catskills: billed as the largest professional/amateur stage race in America, this race stage race features some challenging climbs and a deep field of athletes. With three stages: August 5 Prologue Time Trial, August 6 Road Race and August 7 Road Race there is sure to be some excellent racing and talk afterwards.
VSM Epic Summer Event: hosted by the Vermont Ski and Snowboard Museum and the Trapp Family Lodge, this event features 40 kilometre mountain bike race and 10 kilometre trail running race on Saturday August 6. The mountain bike race can be done solo or with a team. Be sure to stick around for the barbecue afterwards and check out the Beach House In the Mountain Music Festival.
Berkshire Brevet Petersburg 300 KM: not technically a race but definitely a massive accomplishment on the bike. If you’re thinking of doing Paris-Brest-Paris one day, a brevet will get you prepared and qualified. This brevet is a qualifier for the famed randonneur ride. There is a time limit of 20 hours for this 300 kilometer ride.
Canadian BMX Championships: this weekend the best BMX racers in the country will be racing in Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures, Quebec. The weekend of racing culminates with the Quebec Cup on Sunday.
Whatever you do this weekend – mountain biking, road racing, a long ride, a zip around the BMX track or all of it – have fun and keep the rubber side down!
